About Aaron

Aaron Ibbotson joined Forsyth Barr in 2020. He is the analyst responsible for Aged Care and Telecommunications, along with additional responsibilities within equity strategy and thematic research. He has over 20 years of equity research experience spanning across five sectors and Global Thematic research. His previous work includes analysing sustainable factors driving long-term competitive advantage for corporates. He worked as an equity analyst in London for 13 years for a leading Global Investment bank and most recently domestically for seven years.

He is a member of the Forsyth Barr Investment Committee and is responsible for the management of Forsyth Barr’s New Zealand Model Portfolio.

Aaron holds a M.Sc. (Economics and Business) from Stockholm School of Economics where he was a guest lecturer on corporate valuation from 2007-2015. He is a sought-after speaker with a particular expertise in long-term investment strategy, regularly sharing his perspectives with professional networks and investors.

In 2001 Aaron was awarded the SSE Student Exchange Scholarship to Otago University where he met his future wife. In 2017 they moved “back” to NZ with their growing family.
