About Sam

Sam Turner joined Forsyth Barr Wānaka in 2024 after 10 years with the Forsyth Barr Asia office he co-founded. He has worked in the financial services industry for over 22 years, largely on the institutional side of the business, in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. With many years of experience trading international equity, debt and FX markets Sam has vast experience in international investing to bring to Forsyth Barr and his clients.

Sam is registered as a financial adviser and is accredited as an NZX Adviser. In addition, he holds Securities qualifications from Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago.

Central Otago is home for Sam despite years living and working offshore. Born and raised in Bannockburn, the family still farms there. Sam is heavily involved with his three children’s schools in Dunedin, coaching various sporting teams in his spare time.
